ABOUT US

Halo Labels, fashion brand based in Berlin run by polish artist Ala Sowiar treats textiles as a soft matter. For us the texture is the essence of the material, stimulating our eyes and touch, connecting sense with memory and sentiment. Our collections are ethically produced by local tailors in Poland, often using deadstock fabrics. Especially textures often refer to the forms of nature, yet have rather minimalist and unisex cuts.  Our everyday wardrobe is showcased in transitional seasonal collections complimented by the permanent clothing line: GAUZE SHIRTS, a classic silhouette cut from layered, hand-dyed gauze that is meant to be breathable and soft.

Does textile matters?

Textiles mediate our contact with the world—a second skin that filters our experience of matter and conditions external to ourselves. On our bodies, textiles do not hide our stripped, naked selves, but modify the way material appendages become extensions of self. They are liminal: material that verges between inner and outer, boundary and permeation. Fabrics are not defined by their inert materiality and protective or decorative qualities, but through their ability to carry memory and sentiment. Amidst an increasing tendency to see fashion as frivolous and purely decorative, Halo Labels seeks to engage with a much broader and intimate view of clothing as a fundamental human experience and expression.
People form an unconscious bond with their clothes – the material objects they wear. Clothing is multi-sensory, picked for its visual appeal and quality of touch. As we wear clothes, we form an unconscious bond with the material most immediately touching our unaltered selves, material that can also trigger emotions and evoke feelings.

Halo Labels – Sustainable Policy

At Halo Labels, sustainability is at the core of our design and production process. We are committed to transparency and accountability, ensuring that every environmental claim we make is verifiable, clear, and free from misleading information, in accordance with the Green Claims Directive.

  • We prioritize responsible sourcing, producing our signature GAUZE fabric in-house to ensure full control over its environmental impact.

  • Our hand-dyed GAUZE fabric follows a water-saving dyeing process, using only 0.5 liters per T-shirt, compared to industrial methods that consume 20–150 liters.
  • Our KNITS collection is crafted from OEKO-TEX and GOTS-certified cotton yarns, ensuring compliance with high environmental and social standards.

  • Additional collection pieces are made mostly from deadstock materials, reducing textile waste and preventing overproduction.

  • We implement circular economy principles by ensuring that all GAUZE and KNITS scraps are repurposed into new designs, such as inserts, sleeves, ruffles, and piping.

  • KNITS leftovers are transformed into accessories like hats and balaclavas, ensuring no textile waste is discarded.

  • Past collections have included upcycled jackets and pants made from broken umbrellas, as well as bags repurposed from deadstock materials from a previous company.

  • The dyeing process reuses water progressively from light to dark tones, maximizing resource efficiency.

  • We use non-toxic & natural dyes to minimize environmental impact and chemical waste.

By integrating sustainable sourcing, circular design, and waste reduction strategies, Halo Labels actively works towards minimizing environmental impact while maintaining the highest quality standards.
